Take the time and carefully study this whole paper. This may be your only chance ever to hear how to escape the eternal damnation of Hell and how to be sure of Heaven when you die.
Most people think there is no sure way of knowing where they will go when they die, but that's just not true! Let me share with you what God says in His Holy Word, the Bible.
"He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life"
(1 John 5:12-13).
Before you can ever be sure of Heaven, there are some facts from God's Word that you must understand and believe.
1. You have sinned against God.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
"Whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all" (James 2:10).
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us" (1 John 1:8).
2. God is a holy, sin-hating God.
The Bible says about God in Habakkuk 1:13, "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity:"
"For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee" (Psalm 5:4).
3. God's holy nature demands that all sin must be punished.
"For the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). Let me explain:
A person who works hard on his job all week earns or deserves wages for his work, and the wages he receives for his work is money. God says you deserve or have earned wages for your sin, and the wages you deserve for your sin is death. That's not just the death of your body. The Bible states in Revelation 20:14-15, "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."
"And he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone...And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night"
(Revelation 14:10-11).
4. Though God hates your sin and has to punish it, He loves you so much that He came down to the earth and received the punishment that you, as a sinner, deserved when He suffered and died on the Cross.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities" (Isaiah 53:5).
My friends, picture the Lord Jesus dying for your sins. See Him with the crown of thorns pushed down upon His brow. Watch as numerous men mercilessly drive their fists into the bones of His face. Watch as the whip comes down time and time again upon the Lord Jesus' body until He barely looks human. Hear the angry crowd mock Him in their unbelief and shout, "Crucify Him! Crucify Him!" Watch as they pluck out His beard and spit in His bloody, beaten face. See Jesus in agony as the spikes are driven through His hands and feet as He is lifted up on the Cross. The Lord Jesus endured His most horrible suffering when God the Father placed the sin of the world on Him
(Isaiah 53:6).
Truly, Jesus suffered much. But He did not suffer for His sins, because He had never sinned.
"Who did no sin . . . [but] bare our sins in his own body on the tree [Cross]" (1 Peter 2:22-24).
Jesus died for the sins of all the world; but friend, you need to realize that Jesus suffered all this for your sins. After Jesus Christ had made full payment for your sin, He said, "It is finished [paid in full]" (John 19:30). He was then buried in a tomb but arose (came alive) from the dead on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:4).
5. You must trust Jesus' death alone to save you from Hell and take you to Heaven, not anything else.
If you trust being good, doing good works, keeping the Ten Commandments, attending church regularly, or being faithful in your religion to get you to Heaven, you will certainly go to Hell. These things are good, but they could never get you to Heaven. Only Christ's death satisfied God (Isaiah 53:11). We are saved by what Jesus did when He died on the Cross, and that alone.
If our goodness could get us into Heaven, then WHY DID JESUS DIE? The Bible says in Galatians 2:21, "For if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain."
"Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight" (Romans 3:20).
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us" (Titus 3:5).
"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6).
6. Eternal Life (going to Heaven) is a GIFT from God to be received, not earned.
"The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).
"As many as received him [Jesus], to them gave he power to become the sons of God" (John 1:12).
7. To receive Eternal Life and be saved from Hell, you must ASK JESUS to save you.
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13).
*When you ask to be saved, two things are absolutely necessary: "Repentance toward God and Faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ" (Acts 20:21).
REPENTANCE is to have a change of mind about sin, to change your mind from thinking your sin is not so bad, and to realize that your sin is a horrible offense to a holy God. You must be willing to honestly admit your sinful condition and you must turn from anything that is keeping you from coming to Christ. In Luke 13:3 Jesus said, "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
FAITH means to trust (depend upon) Jesus Christ alone to save you from sin and Hell and take you to Heaven.
If you can mean it from your heart, tell God in your own words something like this:
"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against You. I believe the Bible teaches that You are holy and hate sin and that I deserve to die and go to Hell. But, Jesus, I believe the Bible, which says You love me. I believe that You died for me in my place and rose again, that I might receive the gift of Eternal Life. I am willing to turn from my sin and completely trust You to forgive me. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save me."
To pray a prayer like that without really meaning it will not do a thing for you. You will still go to Hell. But if you have trusted Jesus Christ, He has saved you. You can be sure that you will go to Heaven when you take your last breath and that you have "hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began" (Titus 1:2).
Friend, Jesus wants you to be saved (born again) right now! "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2). You could die today. "Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth" (Proverbs 27:1). Don't let anyone or anything keep you from being saved today. "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" (Mark 8:36).
