Have you ever heard a selection of music that was so incredible that the piece required your full attention? So stunning that you were struck immobile by the extraordinary beauty to which you bore witness? Many of us can talk about songs and albums we adore. We can reminisce about the first time we heard a particular band perform or our favorite artist in person.
What if I told you that there is One who thinks of you with even higher regard? Did you know that the Creator of all things lovely created what He considered a masterpiece when He made you?
Even overlooking the blemishes and imperfections we try to conceal from the world, few of us would consider ourselves masterpieces. We spend too much time with ourselves, don't we? We know about our inner anguish and secret fears: our disguised depression and hidden hurts.
Friend, may I share what God's Word has to say about you? In the Bible, God says you are a masterpiece that He treasures.
"So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them... And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good" (Genesis 1:27, 31a).
God doesn't JUST value you as a masterpiece of His creation; God loves you. He loves you more than you love your favorite song and even more than you love YOU. He loves you so very much that He was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for you.
You may have heard of the most famous verse in the entire Bible: John 3:16. Though this verse is only 25 words in length, it's a remarkable statement that tells how much God values and loves you!
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
Consider that! Despite our faults and failures, God sent His Son, Jesus, to pay for our sins. Knowing it would cost Him a brutal execution on a rugged cross, Jesus willingly paid the price for you! Why? Because He loves you!
More than anything, God wants to establish a relationship with you. Jesus died to make that possible. But there is a problem.
God doesn't take hostages. He will not force you to love Him in return. But, if you would like to accept the free gift of Christ's death for your sins and crown Him king of your life, God's Word tells how we can know Him and respond to His love's overwhelming gift of salvation from sin.
First, by way of review, do you understand that no one (including you) is perfect? By ourselves, we don't deserve God's love. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
Second, to be clear, if we don't accept Christ's love and His sacrifice to pay for our sins, there is a harsh and unescapable penalty.
"For the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23a).
The death this verse speaks of means that we will be forever separated from God after death in a place called Hell.
But there is good news! Third, because God loves us, the second half of Romans 6:23 says, "But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." The penalty for our sins has been paid! The only acceptable payment is the perfect and precious blood of Jesus!
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
Lastly, we are presented with a decision. To accept God's love, the Bible declares that we must turn to Jesus as our Saviour and repent. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" (Romans 10:9).
What a masterpiece of love! God has made a way for us to accept Eternal Salvation. Would you like to receive His gift of love today?
If so, talk to God. Tell Him you know you are a sinner and need His forgiveness. Tell Him you believe Jesus died to save you from sin and are willing to turn from sin. Ask Jesus Christ to come into your life and become your personal Saviour.
If you just prayed and accepted God's masterpiece of love, you have become a part of God's family! We would love to welcome you to the family and rejoice with you.
