ARE YOU
BORN AGAIN?
“Ye must be born again” (John 3:7).
I met a great church-going lady who had taught Sunday School and even
attended Bible college. But she was not
born again.
A very moral man spoke about the day he was born again. He had served his church many ways, but it
was not until, in his 60’s, he heard God’s Word and was saved.
WHAT IS IT?
To be born again means you receive a heavenly birth. It means “born
from above.” Good works like those
done by this man and woman cannot do it - not baptism, not communion, not
feeding the poor, etc.
“Marvel not that I said unto
thee, ye must be born again.” Jesus
said these words to a religious man. He
needed this birth. Jesus told him, “Except a man be born again he cannot enter
the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). A heavenly entrance needs a heavenly
birth.
HOW DOES
IT HAPPEN?
People who are born again “were
born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but
of God” (John 1:13).
God
must do it for you!
We are “born
again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God . . .” (1 Peter 1:23). Corruptible simply means decayed or
false. Man’s ideas about getting into
heaven are corrupt. Only in God’s Word
do we find God’s method on how to be born again. Here is what it says.
“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of
God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
God’s Word says:
1) You are a sinner and have
earned the
wages for your sin, which is
death.
“The wages of sin is
death . . .”
2) He has a gift for you. You do
not earn
gifts. Salvation is “the
gift of God.”
3) Jesus Christ is the provider
of this
gift.
It is “through Jesus Christ our
Lord.”
You can be and must be born again, but you must do it God’s way.
GOD’S WAY
“Christ died for our sins. . .
He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the
Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3,4).
Your sins demand a payment. You
need a redeemer to purchase your salvation.
Jesus paid your sin debt on Calvary’s cross. That is why He can give you eternal life as a
gift. He paid for it with His life.
“As many as received Him, to
them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His
name” (John 1:12).
You receive Jesus by faith. “For
by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift
of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9).
